PRE-WORK

To prepare for our time together, there are 4 tasks you should complete. Do this first one as soon as possible:

TASK ONE
Create an account in the Penn State Aeon Request System. Once your account is created, send Julie Porterfield an email at jmp48@psu.edu and ask to be added to the TPS Workshop 2021 activity. If you already had an account, you have been automatically added to the activity.

Dedicate about an hour to complete the other 3 tasks by midnight on Sunday, August 8, 2021:

TASK TWO
Set aside about 45 minutes to watch this video playlist covering some foundational concepts & this playlist on some practical how-tos.

TASK THREE
Then, please complete the following hands-on activities:

  • Consider a topic that you currently teach (or would like to), and look for relevant primary sources at Eberly Family Special Collections Library.
  • Using your account (Task One) in the Penn State Aeon Request System:
    • Search or browse the PSU finding aids and submit a request for one archival box/item that looks interesting to you. Make sure this request is added to the TPS Workshop 2021 activity under the For: dropdown.
    • Search the PSU catalog and submit a request for one book that looks promising. Add this request to the workshop activity.
    • Search the PSU catalog and submit a request for one non-book item that looks promising. Add this request to the workshop activity.

TASK FOUR
Finally, share your anonymous reflections in this very quick, two-question Google form.

See you soon!
